Reviews & Questions

Here's Everything You Need To Know

Your tropical monstera hanging bush measures 50cm tall and will arrive on a small plastic spike making it incredibly easy to insert straight into your potting medium. The exotic foliage is designed for indoor use only.

Why Choose Artificial

A real monstera plant is actually poisonous to both pets and people. The sap has been known to kill animals and make humans very sick! Our artificial monstera hanging bush is a simple alternative that not only eliminates this risk, but also removes the hassle of regular watering, feeding and pruning.

Interesting Facts

The monstera plant, most commonly known as the Swiss cheese plant, lives in the dark understorey of tropical rainforests in Mexico, Central America and Columbia. It gets its name from the distinctive holes that lace its leaves which resemble the holes in Swiss cheese. Plenty of research has gone into why the monstera has these holes with some suggestions pointing to better temperature regulation and camouflage.

The monstera is also known as the fruit salad plant, which refers to the fruit that a mature monstera bears and is said to taste like a mixture of pineapple, banana and mango! In its native countries, the roots are used to make baskets, ropes and treat snakebites and arthritis, even though it is considered toxic.

Our smaller hanging version bears the name of the monstera monkey mask and prefers high humidity not often found in a typical UK home. It can be tricky to get the right light as too much will damage the leaves and too little will slow down its growth. It also requires regular pruning to keep it in shape as it grows older.
