There’s a BUZZ around Blooming Artificial

The feel-good factor is high in the office at the start of 2019 with the exciting news that the company has adopted a beehive full of honeybees in rural Cambridgeshire.

With the help from Bees For Business, award-winning bee keepers and bee guardians, we are proud to be doing something positive to stop the decline of the honeybee in the UK.

Did you know?

  • The number of honeybee hives in the UK has declined by 73%, falling from 1 million in 1900 to just 270,000 in 2015
  • The UK produces just 14% of the honey it consumes, compared to a European average of 60%

And when you consider that 70 of the 100 crop species that provide 90% of food worldwide are pollinated by bees it highlights the importance of these amazing little creatures, which are under threat from disease, pests and agricultural pesticides.

By adopting a hive of bees, and funding its upkeep, Blooming Artificial is playing an important role in reversing the decline of the honeybee in the UK and improving environmental biodiversity.

The Bees for Business model is focused on sustainable beekeeping, striking a balance between nature and human demand: they take only the excess honey produced by the bees, ensuring that enough is left to sustain the bees throughout winter.

Our hive will contain as many as 80,000 bees at its peak so we are pleased to know that trained bee keepers will be regularly inspecting our hive to prevent swarming and to ensure their optimum health and well-being.

We are looking forward to sharing regular news and photo updates with you on how our bees are getting on so please keep an eye on our blog.
