Here's Everything You Need To Know

What options are there?

The Bottle Palm tree is available in a 145cm size. The height measurement is taken from the ground to the height of the palm foliage once it has been dressed out or arranged. The plant has a canopy width of around 110cm. The Bottle Palm will arrive in a large but basic starter pot which should be planted into a larger planter. Choose from our range of large plant pots here.

Will you be able to tell it’s not real?

The Bottle Palm has two distinctive features; the bulging trunk and the palm foliage. The trunk is made from a semi-soft material which provides a rough textured look and feel to match the plants natural sibling.

The palm fronds or foliage is manufactured from polyester and are a mixture of light and dark green colours. Most leaves have slightly yellowed tips to give the impression of aging which is a nice touch. The foliage itself is slightly layered and beach-swept which gives it a slightly messier appearance than some of our other palms.

Where should you put it?

The Bottle Palm is one of our more exotic plants so will naturally suit a warm and sunny room in your home such as a conservatory or orangery. It’s not UV protected, so we don’t recommend putting it outdoors for long periods of time.

When the Bottle Palm tree arrives, this is what you need to do:

  1. Unpack
  2. We’ll send the Bottle exotic palm tree to you safely and securely in a strong packaging. The pot and foliage may be wrapped in additional protection. When the palm arrives, remove the packaging and recycle as much as you can. If the product arrives damaged, please let us know as soon as you can.

  3. Arrange
  4. Arranging the foliage of the artificial Bottle Palm is slightly more difficult than our average product. The best method for achieving a desirable arching canopy is to gently curve each frond individually. Use our product photos as a guide to help you complete this step or for more information and guidance watch our short video guide here.

  5. Add finishing touches
  6. Last but not least, planting your new tree into a more decorative pot is the perfect finishing touch. It increases the palms overall stability and will help it blend into your existing interior décor. Choose from our range of large premium plastic pots or use one from around your home. Potting an artificial Palm tree is really simple and makes a big difference to the overall appearance of the faux plant. Put the starter pot into the decorative planter, fill around it with earth and top with decorative stones. For more information, watch our short video potting guide here.

What about ongoing maintenance?

The Bottle Palm is designed with ease in mind. Once it’s in position the only time and effort it will require is an occasional dust to prevent build-up of dirt or debris. From time to time, we recommend adjusting the palm fronds to maintain its appearance.

Did you know?

It’s a common misconception that a Bottle Palms lower trunk is swollen to aid water storage. It’s actually just the way this particular genus grows. As the palm matures, the bulge elongates and as a result reduces in size.

The genus name Hyophorbe comes from the Greek words for pig and food. It’s widely presumed that this is because the Bottle Palm’s small fruits were used to feed pigs.
