Reviews & Questions

Here's Everything You Need To Know

What options are there?

The artificial parlour palm is available in three sizes: 120cm (4ft), 150cm (5ft) and 180cm (6ft). This measurement is taken from the ground upwards. The width of the tree ranges from 30cm – 40cm depending on the size you choose. The parlour palm comes pre-potted in a small starter pot which holds the tree together and gives it a sturdy base. We do not recommend trying to remove this as the tree is cemented in.

Will you be able to tell it’s not real?

The foliage on the parlour palm features long sword-like leaves in lighter and darker shades of green to replicate new growth for a more authentic appearance. It has several rich green stems accompanied by bamboo style canes for a more exotic vibe. To see what previous customers thought of the parlour palm, read the reviews above.

Where should you put it?

This stunning faux palm is designed for indoor use only. Put it in a large decorative pot and use it in your hallway, bedroom, office or reception area as an eye-catching focal point that’s sure to fool friends, family and visitors.

When the parlour palm arrives, this is what you need to do:

  1. Unpack
  2. The parlour palm will arrive in a sturdy cardboard box. The foliage and pot may be wrapped in additional protection which keeps them safe during transit. When your order arrives, remove your palm tree and recycle the packaging where possible.

  3. Arrange
  4. After you’ve unboxed your parlour palm, you may notice that the foliage is slightly bunched together. This is due to the tree being packed tightly into its box to keep it safe during transit and is normal for artificial plants. To correct this, firmly bend out each frond until the tree looks similar to our photos above. Run your fingers over the leaves to straighten out any creases and any that remain should drop out within 72 hours.

For more information on how to arrange your artificial parlour palm watch our video guide here.

  5. Finishing touches
  6. Once you’ve arranged the foliage, the only thing left to do is re-pot your parlour palm into something larger and more decorative. Doing this will give your palm more stability and really finish off the look. You can use your own pot or choose from our range or premium plastic planters here. To re-pot your faux palm tree, put the tree and its starter pot into your new planter, fill in any gaps with sand or soil and top with some decorative stones.

For further guidance on how to re-pot your parlour palm, watch our video guide here.

What about ongoing maintenance?

The natural parlous palm is very slow growing, taking decades to reach a meter tall. They’re susceptible to several pests and diseases including mealybugs, scale insects, root rot and stem cankers. They also require high humidity in order to grow. The artificial parlour palm is without any of these issues. There’s no need to maintain a humid environment or water it regularly and you won’t need to treat it for pests and disease. The only thing you may need to do is dust it regularly to keep it looking clean and fresh.

Did you know?

The parlour palm or Chamaedorea Elegans, is native to Central America and is seen growing on the forest floor in the shade of a high forest. The minimum temperature for it to survive would be no less than 16ºC in the winter so although it’s a very popular indoor plant, you won’t see many growing outside in the UK due to their need for the heat. The parlour palm is often called the love and good luck palm.
