Botanical name chamaedorea elegans, the parlour palm is native to Central America and is seen growing on the forest floor in the shade of a high forest. Minimum temperature for it to survive would be no less than 16ºC in the winter. Although a very popular indoor plant, you will not see many growing outside in our country due to their need for the heat.

The parlour palm is often called the love and good luck palm.
