Here's Everything You Need To Know

What options are there?

The zebra grass plant is available in three standard sizes: 60cm, 90cm and 120cm. The sizes are taken from the ground to the very tip of the plant – i.e including the included plant pot. Each zebra grass arrives in a standard black pot which can be re-potted into something a little more decorative. If you would like to add a planter, we recommend one of our smaller plant pots.

Will you be able to tell it’s not real?

To be frank, we really don’t think so. The faux Zebra plant, or Miscanthus Sinensis Zebrinus, is produced from polyethylene and has been closely matched against the botanical version of the plant.

Where should you put it?

Ornamental grasses such as the zebra grass can be used in a wide variety of indoor locations. Because of the zebra grasses striking appearance, we suggest using the plant in a light, modern environment such as your kitchen, conservatory or study area.

Alternatively, it’s an interesting green option for offices and can be used individually on desktops or as part of larger partitioning solutions.

When the Zebra grass arrives, this is what you need to do:

  1. Unpack
  2. The faux Zebra grass will arrive with you safe and sound in strong packaging. When you receive it, remove the packaging. If the plant is damaged or defective, please let us know.

  3. Arrange
  4. Our range of grasses are among the simplest of all faux plants to arrange or style. The fronds are already upright in the correct position. If they are squashed together slightly, all you need to do is to give the plant a gentle shake or gently spread the grass stems.

  5. Add finishing touches
  6. Finally, we always recommend pairing your faux plant with a more stylish plant pot. Choose from our range of smaller pots here or use one you already have lying around the house. Re-potting is quick and easy. First, pop the grass inside your new pot, then fill around the starter pot with earth and then cover with decorative stones. For more details, watch our short video guide here.

What about ongoing maintenance?

The artificial Zebra grass isn’t a needy fellow. The grass fronds are nearly vertical which prevents dust from forming on them which means this plant shouldn’t need cleaning too often. So, all you need to do is pop the plant in the desired position and you’re all set.

Did you know?

The botanical zebra grass, or Miscanthus sinensis ‘Zebrinus’ is actually one of the easier plants to grow. Its hardy based on average UK and northern European weather and isn’t particularly fussy about sunlight or soil type.

However, the natural plant grows rather rapidly to an overall size of 1.5m high and up to 1m wide making it too large and unwieldy for many. The plant also requires annual pruning to ensure continued healthy growth year after year.

The ornamental zebra grass is native to eastern Asia and can be found in China, Japan and Korea. It’s part of the Miscanthus sinensis genus and is closely related to Chinese silver grass, Korean ukase and maiden grass.
