Artificial Areca Palm

What options are there?

The areca palm is available in either 140cm or 190cm versions. The overall height measurement is taken from the bottom of the pot to the top of the foliage once it has been styled. The width for the 140cm size is roughly 90cm and approximately 120cm for the larger size. It also has UV stable foliage which won’t fade in the sunlight. Your areca palm tree will arrive in a small starter pot which we recommend re-planting into a larger, more decorative pot to improve the overall appearance and increase stability.

Will you be able to tell it’s not real?

The areca palm features long arching fronds with pointy leaves that perfectly replicate those of its natural counterpart. The fronds are easily adjustable which allows you to create your own unique look and its foliage consists of several tones of green for the most authentic appearance.

Where should you put it?

Your new areca palm would look at home in a bright room with plenty of natural light. That said, this beauty will survive wherever you decide to use it! The foliage is UV protected so placing it in a bright room or outside won’t affect its look. We do however recommend moving your areca palm into a more sheltered area outdoors in extreme weather.

When the areca palm tree arrives, this is what you need to do:

1. Unpack
We’ll send your areca palm to you safely and securely in strong packaging. The pot and foliage may be wrapped in additional protection which should be removed and recycled. If your order arrives damaged, please let us know as soon as you can.


2. Arrange
As with most faux plants, you will need to arrange the foliage to help it look its best. The best method for achieving the most natural look is to firmly curve each frond. Use our photos as a guide to help you or for more information watch our short video guide here.


3. Add finishing touches
Finally, repotting your artificial palm tree into a more decorative pot will provide extra stability and help it to blend into your existing interior or exterior décor. Choose from our wide range of premium plastic planters or use one of your own. Potting your new palm tree couldn’t be any easier and it makes a huge difference to the overall appearance. Simply put your new tree and basic starter pot into your new planter, fill around the edges with sand or soil and top off with decorative stones. What about ongoing maintenance?

The main advantage of artificial plants is the level of low maintenance required to care for them. Forget all the watering and feeding that a real palm tree would require and instead, relax knowing that your new palm tree is going to look its best all year round! When using your areca palm indoors, the only maintenance it will require is a quick dust every now and then to prevent any build-up of dirt or debris. This will also help to ensure your areca palm looks fresh and healthy. If you’re using it outdoors there’s no ongoing maintenance!

Did you know?

The areca palm is also known as the butterfly palm which refers to the leaves curling upwards to create a butterfly effect. It was named as one of the best air purifying plants, after a scientific clean air study completed by NASA. The study found that this plant filters xylene and toluene from the air and transpires 1 litre of water per 24 hours.
