Reviews & questions
AKA the calathea ornata, the pinstripe is one of the most popular calathea-style houseplants. Unfortunately it's also one of the neediest. Finding the right spot and watering schedule can take a while... and by the time you do, it may be too late.
Our faux imitation version has slightly glossy leaves featuring the classic pinstripes we all love so much. The underside of the leaves is a lovely deep purple which accentuates the stripes perfectly.
This plant is only suitable for inside use, and needs nothing more than a dust or wipe to keep it clean. Otherwise, you can escape the plant drama and enjoy your pretty pinstripe calathea.
Because of the small size and the large number of leaves, arranging this small calathea can be a little tricky. Real pinstripe calathea have a slightly wild mixture of leaves arched out, some pointing up, and with leaves facing multiple directions. Here are a few tips to help you achieve this...
Starting from the outside, tease out each leaf by arching and bending each plastic stem. You can be firm, and you can change it later if you need to reposition it.
Work your way around the outside of the plant, bending each stem individually. Then move onto the middle section of the plant.
You can also gently rotate and turn the leaves so that there's a mixture of leaves showing the pinstripe top and purple underside facing out.

What care? With no special dietary requirements or demands for sunlight, you can sit back and relax. All we suggest is giving the leaves a light dusting from time to time with a damp cloth.
To maximise the plants lifespan, we don’t recommend using it outdoors. It’s not UV protected, so may fade, discolour or not get on well with high winds.
