Reviews & Questions

Here's Everything You Need To Know

What options are there?

The forest fern measures roughly 30cm tall and 45cm wide. It’s pre-potted in a small terracotta pot measuring 12cm wide and 9.5cm tall.

Will you be able to tell it’s not real?

The forest fern features delicate fern fronds which grow smaller at each end and is manufactured using premium quality plastic. It comes topped with real moss for the most natural look and each frond features an internal wire which can be bent into a more realistic position until you’re happy with its appearance.

Where should you use it?

Natural ferns prefer indirect sunlight away from windows and as they originate from the tropics, they don’t like being near cold drafts. If you can find a spot like this for your artificial forest fern, it will look no different from the real thing.

However, if you’re looking for place it on your window sill or in your hallway towards your front door, it won’t matter. Your faux fern forest bush won’t complain and it will still look as fabulous as it did when it first arrived.

When the forest fern arrives, this is what you need to do:

  1. Unpack
  2. When the forest fern arrives, remove it from its box and recycle the packaging where possible. In the unlikely event that your order arrives damaged, please let us know as soon as possible.

  3. Arrange
  4. When you unpack the forest fern, the foliage may look bunched together and standing upright. This is only a result of it being packed tightly to keep it safe in transit. Simply bend out each frond into a natural arch until you’re happy with its appearance. We recommend using our images as a guide or using a photo of a natural fern bush to guide you.

For more information, read our guide here.

  5. Re-pot
  6. Once you’ve arranged your new fern bush, we strongly recommend that you re-pot it into a larger and more attractive pot. By doing this, you will give the plant more stability and help it to blend into your current décor.

To re-pot your artificial plants, pick out a pot slightly larger than the original starter pot it arrives in. You can use one you have at home or choose from our range of premium plastic pots here.

Next, place your fern and its starter pot into your new planter. Please note that we don’t recommend attempting to remove any of our artificial plants from their starter pots as this can damage them.

Finally, fill in the gaps with sand, soil or stones and top with either more soil or decorative stones to finish off the look.

For further guidance watch our potting guide here.

What about ongoing maintenance?

If you were to own a real fern, you would be spending lots of time keeping its environment humid, making sure it never dries out and ensuring it has plenty of indirect sunlight to avoid burning and yellowing of its leaves.

Your forest fern won’t care for any of this hassle and will only need to be cleaned once or twice a month to ensure it still looks fresh and dust free. An added bonus is that if you’re using it outside, it won’t even need cleaning. Mother Nature will take care of that for you.

For more information, read our cleaning guide here.

Did you know?

There are over 10,560 species of fern and they are some of the oldest plants in the world. In Slavic folklore, ferns are believed to bloom once a year. Anyone who sees a fern flower is guaranteed to be rich and happy for the rest of their life.
