Reviews & Questions

Here's Everything You Need To Know

What options are there?

The strelitzia plant is available in two sizes measuring 175cm tall and 200cm all. Both trees are approximately 120cm wide.

Will you be able to tell it’s not real?

Each strelitzia tree has textured green leaves in two tones of green to mimic new and older growth. These leaves sprout from several long realistic stems which you can see in our images above. We’ve compared the shape, colour, size and foliage of our strelitzia against its natural counterpart to ensure it looks real.

Where should you put it?

Real strelitzia’s aren’t a particularly hardy plant and need a humid environment with a minimum winter night temperature of 10-12°C. Therefore the most natural room for your strelitzia plant would be a conservatory however, being artificial you can rest assured that your strelitzia will look amazing in your bedroom, dining room, lounge and bathroom no matter what the conditions are.

When the strelitzia plant arrives, this is what you need to do:

  1. Unpack
  2. Your artificial strelitzia will arrive securely packed into a strong cardboard box. The pot and foliage will be wrapped in additional protection to keep it safe in transit which can usually be recycled. When you order arrives, open the box and remove your new faux plant.

If your order arrives damaged in any way, please contact us a soon as possible.

  3. Arrange
  4. Don’t be alarmed to find the foliage all pointing upwards. This is because it’s been packed tightly in its box to keep it safe. To correct this, simply bend out each frond and leaf firmly until they arch slightly. You can use our photos above to guide you. For further guidance, watch our video guide here.

Your box will include some large loose leaves, which will need to be pushed into the slots in the stems at the top of the plant. If you need any help with this, please don't hesitate to contact us.
  5. Finishing touches
  6. Your cool new strelitzia plant will arrive pre-potted in a small black travel pot. We recommend that you re-pot your faux plant into a more decorative planter to finish off the look and give the plant some more stability. To do this, simply put the travel pot into your new larger planter, fill around the edges with soil or sand and top with some decorative stones. For more information, watch our video guide here.

What about ongoing maintenance?

The best thing about our artificial strelitzia plant is how little maintenance it needs to look amazing. A real strelitzia plant not only requires watering and feeding, you also need to keep an eye out for pests such as scale insect, glasshouse red spider mite and mealybug. Our faux strelitzia only needs to be cleaned every now and then with a damp cloth to remove any dust.

Did you know?

The strelitzia plant is more commonly known as the bird of paradise plant or crane flower due to its resemblance of a spikey-headed bird. It’s one of the most recognised tropical plants and is named after the place that Queen Charlotte was born in 1744, in the territory of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
