Arranging faux topiary foliage

Our artificial trees are designed to be low faff for you, and they will be… trust us! Arranging the foliage sounds complex, but in this case, it’s really just fixing up any foliage that was flattened in the box. To do this, start at the bottom of your tree and gently work the foliage out. Remember that topiary is designed to be tight… so in other words, you don’t need to do too much. Caring for your artificial topiary trees

Our whole range of outdoor artificial topiary trees is UV resistant which extends their lifespan outside. However, there’s still a couple of things you can do to ensure your new tree has a happy and long life. If your tree is potted, rotate it from time to time to ensure any weathering happens evenly. During extreme weather like high winds or prolonged rainfall, try to protect your topiary. This can be moving it indoors or to a sheltered area or protecting it if it can’t be moved. The other, which applies to natural wood topiary trees, is to apply stain to the base of the tree on an annual basis. For more information, check out our guide to caring for outdoor trees .

How to pot artificial topiary trees

All of our faux topiary arrives in a plain black pot. This should be put into a slightly larger and more decorative pot when it arrives with you. This will increase stability and help the tree blend into its new home. Potting your tree is simple. You can read our full potting guide here , or follow these basic steps: 1. Select a pot, with drainage hole, which is slightly larger than the faux trees starter pot 2. Pop the tree into the pot and ensure it is straight 3. Fill around the pot with sand or soil and compact 4. Top off with decorative gravel Alternatively, you can plant your topiary tree straight into the ground using the tips in this video.

What can I spray on fake flowers to stop them from fading?

There’s nothing worse than faux flowers that have faded in the sun. Sadly, due to their intricate detailing, it’s virtually impossible to create UV-stable artificial flowers. That said, we don’t recommend using any UV protection sprays on your faux flowers. These acrylic sprays usually contain an absorbing chemical which may extend the lifespan of your flowers, but their effectiveness is debatable depending on the coverage. They can also leave a sticky finish, turning your flowers into a dust magnet! Instead, try to keep your flowers out of direct sunlight if possible. If you’re planning to use them in a sunny windowsill, stick to pale colours and rotate your flowers so that any fading is distributed evenly. For more info, read our guide to UV resistance .
