How to plant artificial trees in the ground

• Stones or sand

• A plant or tree that’s designed for outside use

And the following tools:

• A spade or trowel

Planting instructions:

Actually planting the product in the ground is relatively straightforward. Here are the steps:

1. Dig a hole a little deeper and wider than the plant's starter pot.

2. Partially fill the hole with stones or sand to help with drainage.

3. Pop the plant into the hole and check it’s straight (a second person is handy here to hold the plant in place).

4. Fill around the starter pot with earth and press down to secure it.

Top tips & additional information

• Plant the product on a slight ridge. This will help water drain away from the plant and limit rot.

• If the product has a natural wood stem, avoid burying the wood in the soil. This helps prevent rot and maximises the lifespan of the product.

• For natural wood-stemmed products, treat the wood with a clear wood preservative annually to protect the wood from rot.
