Lavender is well known to us from a young age – we were all guilty of rubbing our hands together on one and smelling it! With so many uses in today’s world - it’s a handy plant to have, although very fast growing and known to take over the garden if not maintained on a regular basis. Luckily with the real look and feel of our artificial lavender patio planter over growing will not be an issue nor will those insects or bumble bees which lavender is known to attract.

Real name lavandula, the word lavender comes from the Latin verb ‘lavare’ which means to wash. Lavender is one of 29 species of flowering plants within the mint family. Native to the old world, it is now a worldwide plant. Around for 1000s of years, it was used in the mummification process and during our great plague where people would attach it to their wrist to fight off infection.
