Reviews & Questions

Here's Everything You Need To Know

What options are there?

The New Zealand cabbage palm measures 110cm tall (approximately 3.6ft measured from the ground upwards) and 80cm wide. This stunning artificial tree comes pre-potted in a small starter pot measuring 14cm (h) x 18cm (Ø).

Will you be able to tell it’s not real?

The New Zealand cabbage palm features a thick detailed stem and dense spiky foliage. The foliage varies in colour from green to brown to mimic its natural lifestyle and the brown leaves closest to the ground even have small black markings to replicate fungal spots which commonly occur on it's natural counter-part.

Where should you put it?

The New Zealand cabbage palm is designed for indoor use only, for more information on what this means check out our Ultimate Guide to UV Resistance .

After you’ve unboxed your new faux tree you can put it in an attractive pot and use it in your kitchen, dining room, or hallway for a big splash of lifelike greenery.

When the New Zealand cabbage palm arrives, this is what you need to do:

  1. Unpack
  2. Your artificial palm tree will arrive in a strong cardboard box. The pot and foliage may be wrapped in additional protection which can usually be recycled. When you order arrives, open the box and remove your new faux tree.

  3. Arrange
  4. When you receive your new faux plant, the foliage may be slightly bunched together from being securely packed in its box. This is normal and it only takes a few minutes to arrange the foliage and create your own unique look.

  5. Finishing touches
  6. Your New Zealand cabbage palm will arrive pre-potted in a small travel pot. We recommend that you re-pot it into a more decorative planter. This will help it to blend into your existing décor and provide it with additional support. To re-pot your artificial tree, put the starter pot into your new larger planter, fill in any gaps with earth or soil and top with decorative stones. For further guidance, watch our potting guide here.

What about ongoing maintenance?

The New Zealand cabbage palm can suffer in harsh winter weather as well as prolonged summer heat. The stress of being in these temperatures can lead to poor growth and yellowing and browning of the leaves. It also commonly suffers from several diseases such as armillaria root rot and verticillium wilt.

Our artificial New Zealand cabbage palm is an ideal solution to the hassle of keeping your real plants looking their best. The only thing you need to occasionally do is dust the foliage to remove any build-up of dirt or debris. For more information, read our guide on how to clean artificial plants here.

Did you know?

The New Zealand cabbage palm was once used as a source of food and provided durable fibre for fishing lines, baskets and anchor ropes. It's also the main food source for the New Zealand pigeon and other native birds.
