Reviews & Questions

Here's Everything You Need To Know

What options are there?

The bay cone tree stands at 120cm (4ft) tall and approximately 40cm wide at the widest point. As with most of our artificial topiary trees, you can alter its size and shape by adjusting the foliage. The leaves are also UV protected so it’s perfectly suited for life outside.

Please bear in mind that we recommend moving all artificial plants indoors during extreme weather.

Will you be able to tell it’s not real?

The foliage on the bay cone is manufactured from a durable polyester plastic which provides an authentic waxy feel and intricate detailing on each leaf. The leaves come in several shades of green giving the bay cone tree a subtle but brilliant two-tone look to replicate new growth. The stem is made from treated real wood for added authenticity.

Where should you put it?

Typically, both real and fake topiary trees are used to frame doorways. They give an element of class and can be re-potted into a decorative planter and finished off with some twinkly lights for an illuminating display that highlights the entrance to your home. Alternatively you can use your bay cone on your decking or patio. The foliage on our bay cone is UV resistant making it suitable for outside use.

When the bay cone tree arrives, this is what you need to do :

  1. Unpack
  2. Your bay cone will arrive securely packed into a strong cardboard box. The pot and foliage may be wrapped in additional protection to keep them safe during transit, which can usually be recycled.

  3. Arrange
  4. Once you’ve unboxed your tree, you’ll notice that its foliage will all be slightly compacted because of the way they are packed. To remedy this spend a few minutes arranging the foliage until you’re happy with its appearance. You can use our images above for some guidance. For more help, read our guide to arranging artificial plants here.

  5. Finishing touches
  6. The bay cone is pre-potted in a starter pot with cement to weigh it down. We strongly recommend that you re-pot your bay cone into a larger, more decorative pot. This will finish off the look of your tree and provide it with extra stability. To do this, simply place your tree and starter pot into your new planter. Fill around the edges with sand or soil and top with some decorative stones. For more information, watch our potting guide here.

What about ongoing maintenance?

The main advantage to our bay cone tree is that there is absolutely no maintenance involved to keep it looking its best. Unlike real bay trees which can easily suffer from waterlogged roots, nutrient deficiency and peeling bark, the artificial bay cone tree won’t ever wilt or turn brown. Instead, it will look amazing all throughout the year!

Did you know?

A wreath of bay laurel foliage was given as a prize at the Pythian Games in ancient Greece. These were given in honour of the Greek God Apollo as the laurel tree was one of his symbols.
